The Indrio Bald Eagles returned for good around September 5th 2019...they hang around the area slowing bringing in updates to the nest and fending off young (probably their offspring) Juveniles when they come into the area.....a few other shots of other happenings in the Preserve...November sees the Eagles starting the mating season...many times during the first and second week in November....hopefully bringing an early December surprise!

The eaglets have been raised well and are branching at this moment...one has even fledged and gone tot he end tree where the adults hang out...it has been a earning experience watching these amazing creatures raise a family to fruition....elsewhere in the preserve Wood Storks Egrets of various kinds, kingfishers and the Crane family have been seen. The Crane family lost the first nest and two eggs to something no one knows...but have re=nested in the previous nest from last two years.....on a windy March 17th the fledging eaglet gave it a go in the wind! .....
February has seen the Robins come in migration and deplete the Yaupon Hollies ...the Eaglets are growing rapidly and starting to feed themselves by late in the month although they still get lots of help from Mom and Dad .......the Cranes built a new nest in a different location this year but unfortunately something has happened and they are no longer at the nest as of March 2.....hopefully they will regroup and try again in a safer location ......
After a two week journey to Arizona to try and find Golden Eagles I have returned to update the ISP. Two eaglets are looking really good and seemed to start to actually try and feed themselves a bit today 020819....Ozzie and Harriet are great parents and are kept busy bringing home the groceries......again added a few photos from the Preserve area .....
We finally get to see the head of one of the eaglets on the 13th......which would work out to about 16 days........lots of feeding going on all the time.....Ozzie and Harriet are fine parents this year.....
Just feeding the little ones.....shift change here and there...today Harriet flew out of the nest twice to stretch her wings etc....Ozzie finally returned empty and Harriet took off fo the river.....they seem to have a lot of food in the nest....
I believe eaglets have been born between Dec 28 and Jan 2.......Activity at the nest is the switching of the parent in the nest...one goes and hunts the other stays guard and does what has to be done...rather boring unless you get to watch a shift change.....of course there are other things to photograph in the Indrio Savannahs area....wild hogs, killdeer, Little Blue Herons, Cattle Egret, Wood Stork.....always soething happening,,just have to be in the right place at the right time......Ozzie and Harriet are again being excellent parents and hopefully photographic evidence will be available soon on the eaglets.....
Our Bald Eagles continue with their switching to cover the eggs.....not much longer now....so there were other subjects to photograph....Wild Hogs, Kestrels, Merlins, Herons and more....and even a gator with a pelican.........
Just laying on eggs now and changing shifts...taking time out to eat.....the hogs are out at dusk and the Kestrel has returned to the dead tree......always something to view in Indrio Savannahs Preserve
